Would have to be any good low hour used model available in your area. You won't find anything new (at least worth having) for that price.

Don't know where you live but the Dixie Chopper dealer told me they have a new home owners line this spring, 42" for $2900. Dixie Chopper is a well established commercial line.

you did not say how big an area you are going to mow. I found 2 dealers in tx that had Country Clipper Jazzee (20hp 38inch deck) for less than 3k. I just bought one off craigslist for $2300 with only 27 hours. so there are good deals out there.
