Scotts54 inch Power flow Bagger

Hey everyone,
I have a Scotts 54 inch GT 2554 and would like to find the Power Flow Bagger for it. John Deere who made the Scotts mower no longer makes or stocks the baggers for it. I have been watching Craigslist and E-Bay but have had no success yet. If anyone knows where I can find a new or used one, it would be greatly appreciated. If there is not one to be had, perhaps someone could tell me if it is possible to take a current John Deere Bagger and modify it to make it work, John Deere will not give me any guidance on making that idea fly. I just put in an acre of St. Augustine Sod last spring and really want to bag the clippings this year. Thanks for your help.
Robert

The John Deere Powerflow baggers would probably work with some modifications depending on which one you get. They look identical to the Scotts. I put a Scotts Powerflow Bagger on my Kubota ZTR. I had to weld a couple things but it works great. There are several on Ebay now but more will show up in the spring as mowing season approaches.

Thanks for the info. I may try to find a John Deere Bagger and see if I can make it work. I am a little nervous that if I find one however, that I may not get it to work and then I am stuck with it. Are there any special things that I should take into consideration when looking for the right bagger to fit? Any thoughts are helpful?

The main thing is the basic fit over the dicharge outlet of the deck. The powerflow has a fixed pin that slides through a piece of pipe (that you weld just inside the deck unless you already have it) diagonally then you put a hitch pin through another piece of pipe to secure it to the front aprt of the deck. The rest is easy. Your Scotts should already have the 2 mounting brackets (pipes)on the deck so it might not be hard at all. Check that you can run the blower belt over to your first deck pulley. (clearance) I think the powerflow comes with a double pulley to replace the right hand deck pulley.

Thanks for your help. I'll start working on this right away.

The Scotts 2554 units were de-spec'd JD GT275/GT262 units. Those models shared bagger frames with the 325/345 or even older 240/245/260/265/285/320 models. These bagger frames are easy to ID as they were the only one's that "clipped" to the top of rear of the frame. They had a spring loaded pin that locks into the RH hole in the rear frame plate.

So, if you can find a bagger from a JD GT262, GT275, 325, or 345 or 240/245/260/265/285/320 you'll have that part.

To find the blower, that is the "old 54" deck, not the current "54C Convertable" or "54 Edge". The old deck has a more narrow discharge chute versus the current 54C/Edge. What you need came on JD 345, 425, and 445 models from @ 1993-1999.

Hope this helps!

Robert2474 -

Where are you located? Anywhere close to Birmingham, AL?

I purchased a used Scotts 2554 last year, and it came with the powerflo bagger. I do not use the bagger and removed it from the mower.

It is very heavy and bulky, and I would not want to go to the hassle of bundling it up to ship it anywhere.

Let me know if you have any interest in it.

Hi, I have a Scotts S2048 and I'm looking for a power flow bagger as well. From what I read, the same bagger fits the 54" or the 48" tractor.

Cuman - do you still have the bagger? I don't personally live near Birmingham, but I may be able to have someone swing by and pick it up for me in early May before they head up to my area.

Please let me know if you do still have it and what a fair price is.

Thanks, have a great weekend!

friendsbrn -

Yes, I still have the bagger.

I am not using it and probably never will. As for price, how about $50.00?

Hi Cuman,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I don't think GW sent a notification email noting that you'd posted back! Anyway, $50 sounds great. Let me just email this group that I know will be traveling from Tuscaloosa up here to Philly around May 6 and see if they can pick it up. Is there a particular address or crossroads that I could provide to them to give them a good idea about pickup logistics?

Thanks!
