 o
OT Woods fire

I have been working on the yard moving mulch from the woods to create flower beds, etc. Last night we were out walking and I stopped to talk to our neighbor. He was moving all of his pine straw mulch to the woods because he considered it a fire hazard.

Being a boy scout and wanting to "all ways be prepared" I started thinking about what to do if the wood floor caught fire.

Assuming we are talking about the couple inches of mulch on the woods floor adjacent to my yard, could you control a fire in the mulch with a leaf blower. The thought being that you could use the leaf blower to blow the fire back on its self and clearing the mulch and creating a fire break in front of the fire.

I have been on this forum long enough to know I will get comments which is what I would like

A pressure washer works for me on small fires you a lot leaf's in one minute around me wind what makes fire worst it have to be larger spot burn before you use back fire.

I'm sure blowing burning debris 20 yards in every direction is a "sure fire" way to get things done.

I believe you have better control that that BUT I see your point.

My thought was not to blow the burning material but to clear an area of 15 to 20' wide in front of the fire. ASSUMING that this is a fire creeping through the debris, not with waist high flames.

Well, if you try to blow a small fire line back away from your property, and use a leaf blower to do that--you won't have to worry--the woods will soon be alight, and after it all burns down--you will be able to dump all of the yard waste there, with no worries! HMMM?!
