if you plan to pull either type roller over anything beyond flat ground, best sharpen yer figgerin pencil and work out how much FILLED weight yer gonna be hooked up to. If it's more than the weight of yer machine and you, be ready for an interesting ride down them hills...M/W, Poly - no rust. Larger dia - usually better job of flattening ground if conditions right. JMHO..

I use my Ohio Steel metal roller to groom my gravel driveway. My first (poly) roller didn't last so long on gravel.

I have 2.5 acres and the ground isn't flat but I wouldn't call it hilly either, I have no idea how much the Prestige weighs (just bought it new...don't have it yet) but I'll try to find out.

As rc pointed out, weight is the factor, particuarly going down hill, even not a steep one. I have a load or two of composted horse manure dumped every spring then at my leisure haul it to the garden in a 18cuft cart. Depending on the amount of rain we get that gets heavy and it's going down a hill. I simply put in first gear, and let it idle down. Even so, it sometimes pushes the tractor (26HP, Ag tires, loaded and weights), just steer and enjoy the ride. DO NOT lock the brakes as you'll just skid and lose steering, low gear and idle.

Anytime you have a lot of weight behind a LT/GT which are notorious for being light in the rear end, have an escape route planned. e.g. going down a hill which terminates in a fence line wouldn't be a good idea.

Also, the example I gave with a cart transfers a lot of weight on the rear of the tractor, a lawn roller doesn't do that, it just pushes.

Also, make sure the "hitch pin" you use is the largest the roller hitch and tractor hitch will accomodate. The roller is going to surge back and forth and very quickly "oblongate" the holes on the respective connections.
