Huskee garden tractor that just stopped cutting

I have a question for any experts out there. I have an older model Huskee garden tractor. I was just cutting my lawn and it stopped cutting. I could tell instantly by the noise that stopped. I tried disengaging and engaging the blades a few times but nothing happened. I got off of the tractor to see if the blades were spinning and they were, but very slowly. I looked at the top of the deck to see if anything looked disconnected or broken but everything looked ok. Any ideas?

I looked at the top of the mower deck and there is a spring that is only attached at one end. I can't figure out where the other end is supposed to attach though.

Obviously, that spring with the broken end, is probably the main problem, Evidently, it is supposed to keep tension on a lever that keeps the mower deck belt tight when you move the lever that puts the blades in "CUT mode", when you move the handle on the dash board (i.e. instrument panel, to the youth of today)!
