Also, does some genius recall the # of the tranny on these? I have a couple of pics on my phone..looks like Tecumseh and 47167 are all I have. If there is another number where should I look for it?

What is the code on the tag? I have one from a Murray, but I was never able to remove the wheels from the axle. At least I think I have one. I might have junked it.

I would look on ebay or try Ray's Mowers in Boyertown, PA. They operate a lawnmower junkyard.

It's not in the barn, so I must have scrapped it. They aren't hard to take off. You should be able to work under the battery and from below. Moderate mechanical skill required.

I used to have a Scotts - made by Murray. It had a peerless transaxle and after many searches found Sears parts had the best prices. Mine was low $400 range. I sold that tractor before I tried changing it but pulled off many times and it wasn't hard.

For best price, put the Peerless model number in Google search. I found prices for mine ranging from $200 to $1000. Doing a bit more research and diagnosis before I decide if I need a new trans.

I have a 2000 Murray lawn mower with a Peerless transaxle that will not go up hills. It is very slow on level ground and in reverse. I changed the fluid and it got worse. The belt is good. What do you think is the problem?
