Solution to mice building nests in engine

Hi Everyone,

Like many people, I have to store my tractor outdoors in the winter under a cover and every year I had problems with mice buliding nests in my tractor engine - particularly under the flywheel cover, in the air cleaner, etc. I tried the usual solutions - dryer sheets, moth balls, etc and nothing worked.

Last fall, I remembered that I had purchased a roll of copper mesh to plug up a hole under the siding that was allowing mice to get into my basement. I used the same approach with the engine, as shown in the picture.

I am pleased to report that this worked like a charm. When I took the cover off the tractor for the first time this spring not even a mouse dropping anywhere on the tractor or any nut shells to be found as was usual in the past!

Hopefully this can work for others as well.
