Murray Riding Lawn mower steering help

Just bought a used Murray 14.5hp model #287707 code #96100120 and most of the teeth on the steering column are broke off. I need to replace the teeth and hoping somebody here might be able to walk me through how to R&R this. I've already removed the deck but not sure how to replace the teeth.

Please advise and thank you in advance.

oh....that was simple. removed retaining ring and broken teeth gear came right off. Now just need to find the part #. The model on the mower is actually 40530x83a
