| A friend told me his son's lawn tractor needed two new deck spindles--did i have any used ones? It is a Poulan that i sold him about 4 years ago.
Well, i don't have those parts, but do have one from a Murray. I told him they are different, in all aspects of mandrels, etc. I also said, by the time he messes around, trying to make them work right, he'd have too much trouble and time spent in that--go buy new ones! Heck, the pulleys might be a different size, the height of the mandrels might be different, the blades, all of that. Then would come the nightmare of getting belts to fit, on and on! Does the saying of "Penny-wise/pound foolish" come to mind? |

| I agree, makes no sence trying to sav $$ and make something work in that area to many problems may arise like belt flying off just to name one. even notice somebodies Ideas are somebody elses problems. |

| Yep, i have seen that. And, i did have, or i made, a nightmare of trying to adapt different pulleys, arbors, belts, etc. I had an old Dynamark garden type tractor. I swore that tractor stretched the belts, because when i tried to reinstall one--it was way too long! Turned out i had it installed wrong. I had a Simplicity Broadmoor tractor that i swore i had the belt installed the correct pattern, I thought, but it was way too long! Then i was told the correct pattern and it fit well. |

| Well, he brought the deck up to my place yesterday. It is eggzactly the same as a Craftsman deck, in all aspects, including the cross centering arm at back of deck. i've fixed a bunch of problems on C-man decks, and i told him he'd might as well bite the bullet and go buy a new spindle assembly! Or two! Haven't heard from him yet, about what he decided. |

| Well, twenty minutes ago, that guy stopped in to tell me i had the right idea about the tractor mowing deck. He said he had ordered both new spindles assemblies, and decided that would be easier and less work! HOORAY! |
