how to find a model number on a mtd yard machine

i'm working on a yard machines riding mower and the model number under the seat has been worn away. i have the model number for the briggs and stratton engine but havent had much luck using that number when looking for parts. from other posts on here i've learned that it's a 1999 model but that doesn't really help find parts. thanks

Trade it in on a Craftsman, or other name brand machine, and that will solve the problem. The one you have is not easy to find parts for, any more.
Yes, a good mower fixer can probably adapt parts from other machines, but to get the right part for an old machine is usually a futile deal! BT/DT: Rusty J.

What's the date code on the engine?

Describe the horsepower, deck width, speed etc. and maybe someone can work from that.
