Mower blade 'lift' question

My 1969 Wheel Horse Charger with the 36" side discharge deck is getting a bit hard to get new blades for.

I picked up a set on ebay recently. However these blades have less of an angle where the blade tips up across from the cutting surface (e.g. there are not turned up as far as on the older blades).

My understanding is that these turned up ends are supposed to increase air movement and give better discharge. Somewhere I recall that decks normally had "high lift" blades wen shipped. What I recall is that the low lift blades were for use where there is sandy abrasive soil - to cut down on deck shell and blade wear.

I put the new set on and so far can't tell and difference. Can anyone advise me what, if anything, I could expect when comparing the two?

thanks
