Type the model number into google and you might be able to pull up a manual.

Your engine is an Intek OHV V-twin. Facing the cylinder heads, Cylinder #1 is to your left. If is also the cylinder with the shorter bosses for the ignition coil. #1 rod goes above #2 rod on the crankpin. Camshaft is timed by aligning single match mark on both camshaft and crankshaft. It lines up in one place. I suspect it's near BDC so there is no pressure on the lifters and camshaft.

You really need to get Service Manual #273521. It's about $22 to $25. The link below is for the free Parts List from Briggs which will help, but won't substitute for the manual.
