Oil filter for B&S 24HP mod No.445677

Where can I find a cross reference for a filter for this engine? It's on a Sears tractor and it's a long way to Sears for a filter!

You should be able to go to most auto parts stores and get a cross reference, NAPA, Autozone. Probably Walmart as well. The STP Filter is S3512

Yes, the FL400S works just fine on my Briggs Model #446777. The only difference between it and the Briggs (or Sears) filter is the length. If you have the room, the FL400S (or any equivalent) will work fine. Since it is larger than the Briggs it will take more oil to fill your crankcase to the proper level....

WIX makes NAPA Gold and CarQuest Blue filters. (identical except for the paint job)

For a NAPA filter, use the last 4 digits of the Wix#

For a CarQuest filter, replace the first 2 digits of the Wix# with 85.

Example. Wix 51348 becomes CarQuest 85348 or NAPA Gold 1348.
