| A man brought in an old Craftsman "Companion" Lawn tractor yesterday-said it needed some fixing, and most of all--it wouldn't stop very well!
The machine runs well, and works, but the brakes were way out of adjustment. I found out why--adjusting those brakes was tricky-very tricky. But, i goterdun. I checked the oil-looked like it has 2 quarts or more in the engine! Have to check for gasoline contamination. This tractor is constructed on the steel frame/floor pan, like the old Dynamarks. Stamped from one sheet of steel. Man sez he likes it. in fact, so much that he bought 2 new front tires for it! I'll finish it up tomorrow, hopefully. |

| I think i twisted my neck while trying to adjust the brake, but the brake works good, now. Then the carb was out of adjustment, and there is an auxiliary fuel tank on it--for what reason i have yet to discover, and a half mile of fuel hose, with strange connections, and Wye's! I think it was all designed by a committee! And, of course, the darn thing ran out of gas when i was furthest from the gas can! I called and asked about the second tank, and he doesn't know why it was in there, nor do I. But, it runs and mows and stops good. |
