J Deere will not fire

30 year old, VERY reliable 318 just died. Cranks but no spark. Coil is good. Plug wires good. New plugs. Points appear ok.
Has been such a good machine I hate to give up on it. Anyone have a similar problem and know a solution?

while I am not terribly familiar with Onans, but generally with points ignitions... even if they "appear" ok... just replacing them tends to cure a lot of ills.

You can clean them w/ your wife's fingernail file for something quick and easy. An ohmmeter can tell you if they are making contact.
