Tractor syphons fuel dry

I have a Gravely 8163-T with a 16 hp Onan. I have rebuilt the carb, new fuel line and filter, complete tune up. The fuel pump works fine, good spark etc. The tractor runs for a short time then stops. It seems that the fuel stops pumping to the carb. I let it sit for a few hours and it starts. Any suggestions?

I'd vote for the plugged gas cap! Leave the cap off, or loose, and try it. This is the time of year for those leetle bugs to lay their eggs in any teeny hole they can find, cover it with some poo, and go away, knowing the egg will hatch and prolong the line of bugs, and they can go seek a gas cap breather hole to lay their eggs in, when the time is ripe!
