craftsman 46" tractor engine removal

My 12 year old 26hp briggs engine had a internal problem. I heard a very loud rubbing noise and the engine would only run in overspeed. Tried adjustment but governor shaft is frozen.
Want to re motor. When pulling engine, the bolt that holds two pulleys (pto on bottom and other on top) must be taken out.
Does that bolt loosen clockwise or counterclockwise. I am planning on holding the 1 1/4 flywheel nut with a socket wrench to enable the bolt to come loose without rotating.
Are then precautions to take with removing those 2 pulleys once the bolt is loosened? I am thinking to remove the bolt first, then the 4 engine mounting bolts, then slide the engine back toward the rear. Any suggestions, please
