Craftsman Mower 917.255692 dies after 5-15 minutes running

Mower runs fine for about 5-15 minutes then just dies & pops real loud.

Have done the following maintenance on this 42 inch riding mower (Kohler 14.0 HP):

oil change, oil filter, solenoid, ignition switch, battery, fuel filter, fuel lines, air filter, cleaned carburetor, spark plug, checked all kill switches. Put in fuel & fuel additives.

When it starts, idle is very smooth. Any help would be appreciated..

Dono78 can you start it back up right after it quits?

try running with fuel tank cap loose. cap vent may be blocked.

How long do you have to wait to restart?

Check for spark immediately after it quits.
It may have a bad coil that dies when it gets hot.

Also, as mentioned, a clogged gas cap vent hole will result in fuel starvation as the vacuum in the fuel tank builds.

Also a restricted fuel filter could cause the problem. This would include using a filter designed for an engine with a fuel pump on a gravity flow system.
