Good Deal JD LX266?

I have been following this forum for quite some time. Now I have a question to post. My local John Deere dealer has an older LX266 with 42" mulch deck and 16hp Kohler engine (55 hours) for $1800. Is this a fair deal, good deal, or should I drop everything and buy it. I have been looking for a 42" mulching tractor for over a year.

Any input would be welcome. My other options are a Simplicity Regent or JD LA120 new. Please help.

I don't know if I'd drop everything and buy it, but it's a quality machine with very low hours at a reasonable price.

It's a step or 2 above the others that you mention, but it is a few years old.

Would you rather have a brand new Ford Focus or grandma's 3-4 year old Cadillac?
