tranmission/rear end leaking at drain plug.

I changed the transmission/rear end fluid for the first time on a 30 year old IH cub cadet. There were no leaks prior to changing, the drain plug now has a very small leak, a couple of drops over 4 to 5 days. I tighten the drain plug with an open end wrench. Should I try to tighten more or is there something else to try. I do not want to strip the drain plug. Suggestions please.

Was there a crush washer on the drain plug that fell off?

No washer, square headed bolt only.

If it is a pipe thread plug try some teflon tape on the threads.
