TroyBilt-13064 Hydrostat
As a hobby of mine, I buy used riding mowers. Most I resell.
Or give to family.
Last week I picked up an early 90--maybe a late 80's TroyBilt model 13064. 12.5hp Kohler. Hydrostat.
Allegedly it has sat since 1994. I put a battery to it, cranked the starter over and turned the key to on then shot some starter fluid down the throat. It fired and ran without any issues. I was impressed to say the least.
Decent shape. Sat in a garage unit since 1994. I drug it home and started it up. Throttle cable froze. Replaced that.
Hydrostat was jerky.....I Googled and found a schematics.
I removed the rear seat deck to find a resivour for the Hydrostat. Almost dry. I put in over a quart of 10-40. Now it runs good. It's been cleaned and tires are replaced.
So what do I have here? I notice the deck has a manual lift where you have to get off and use a metal prong to set the height. I notice a large handle on the right, which I guessed it what raises and lowers the deck manually, but it is not connected to anything.
I see the steering wheel center says BOLINS. In Google Search I stumble upon Surburban name.
Any advice? A keeper or just an old workhorse.
