Craftsman front tire poped off

The right front tire on my Craftsman 917.272420 fell off, so I replaced the tire bushings, which were extremely worn out. All was good except now the right spindle arm rubs the top inside of the tire and knocks it off . There is lots of play in the spindle, should I replace it or is another issue causing my problem?

It sounds as though that the shaft on the spindle is worn, so yes replace that. If perchance yours is a stamped steel axle, sometimes the weld breaks at the very outer edge and can cause the spindle to come out of position as well.
