PTO for mower deck on Simplicity Conquest suddenly doesn't work

While cutting my fields today with my Simplicity Conquest, the deck suddenly stopped. The light for the deck on the dash isn't on so I suspect it could be an electrical problem. Any suggestions?

By the way, I purchased my Simplicity tractor in 2003 as it was recommended by this site and it has been an excellent tractor for the 9 years that I've now had it. I would recommend Simplicity without any reservation. The engine blew several years ago because of mice getting into it over the winter but I was able to get a new Vanguard engine from a site recommended by this site and saved literally hundreds of dollars. A temperature gauge would have been helpful which would have given me advance warning of a problem. Seems like none of the garden/lawn tractors I've come across don't have them. Maybe the manufacturers want to sell more engines.

Turns out my problem was the PTO switch which was a $22 plus 13% tax fix for a total of $25. The same switch in Watertown NY after tax was $15. I recently bought a transmission cable for my old reliable 1997 Acura CL in Syracuse NY for $188. The same cable in Kingston Ontario after tax was $361. OUCH!!! It was worth the 115 mile trip each way to Syracuse to get it not to mention all the stuff we bought there a lot cheaper than in Canada at the Carousel Mall. Mind you that's a small price to pay not to have a total fraud radical leftist for a Prime Minister like you're stuck with as your President at least until November. The one good thing that Obama has done for Canada is that by destroying your economy, Canada now officially has a higher standard of living than the U.S. Thanks again Bill!!

I'll trade you some auto parts for some prescription medicine.

I know what you're talking about. In Florida last winter, my wife went to the local hospital in Crystal River because of a bad cough. She spoke to a nurse for 15 minutes who made a wrong diagnosis and it cost around $1,000. About 10 years ago I broke my leg after slipping on some black ice while walking my dog in Charleston Lake Provincial Park. I ended up being taken 30 miles by ambulance to Kingston General Hospital, having two operations, a physiotherapist coming to my home every week for two months, periodic follow-ups with two different doctors and my out of pocket cost was $15 for part of the cost for the ambulance. Three years ago I had an appendectomy where they found cancer, then had a hemi-collectomy where they removed a third of my large colon, followed by 10 chemo treatments followed by quarterly tests and appointments with three specialists and annual CT scans and so far my out of pocket cost has been ZERO. Being over 65, now 68, all of my prescriptions are free except for an annual fee of $100. Fortunately I live on a lake in cottage country close to Kingston so the service is better than if I lived in a large city like Toronto where I'd wait forever for anything.

You just pay for your health care in other ways, like 13% tax, higher gasoline costs etc.
It doesn't matter where you live, nothing is free.

You are absolutely correct sir. On the other hand how's that 16 trillion dollar debt and borrowing 40% of the cost of running the country working out for you?
