B & S 18HP TWIN I/C Won't Start ?

Hi All,

I have an 18HP TWIN I/C engine in my Ride on lawnmower and it won't start.

Checked the Spark plugs and couldn't see any spark so changed the magneto for new one. Set the gap to ~12 Thou and still no spark on either plug ? Plugs are good tried on Rota tiller and started OK.

Engine turns over slowly as I've read with this engine, but no spark no combustion I guess.

Any suggestions why magneto isn't generating a spark ?

might pull off engine cooling shroud sheet metal - look for mice nests/etc and damage to hidden wiring insulation...

also remove/clean to bare shining metal battery connections and chassis ground connections.

repost back if still probs....

Unplug the "Kill" wire at the ignition coil and see if it runs.

You did install the new coil with the plug wires running towards the back of the engine then they make a 180 turn and come back under the coil and out the Intake Manifold side of the engine?

Does the engine turn over with the starter slower than it did when you could start it. Maybe its too slow to generate a spark.
