John deere GT 235

I guess this one should be a no-brainer? I just stumbled across a JD GT-235 that is not working owner wants $500.

It may need a new engine he says. I just want assurance that this is a great deal before I waste 500 on it. It also comes with the 48C deck which I feel should be worth the money alone, right?

It may require afew things but overall I think this is probably a great deal.

I ma buying because my LX-277 is missing a few odds and ends and I feel I get a great tractor out of this.

That is a really loaded question. 500$ for a parts mower is a lot. Engines are incredi-expensive if it would need one to be whole. Yet, if the deck was nice and you actually needed one- a good buy is born. Not many people will shell out that money for a mower that doesn't run or has potential issues. Remember that as you flash 2 Ben Franklins in front of him after you pulled up w/ your trailer!

Yeah you are correct 500 is alot for a parts tractor.
But I have been trying to find agood hood and they want 200 alone for that these days. It may not be ablown engine either. H emay be just confuses. Hard to blow those engines.
I will try what you said firdst 200 - 300 shou,d not scare him away.
