Craftsman seat switch, am I looking at the backwards?

I am working on a Craftsman GT 917255970. The PO had some electrical problems in the past and ended up giving me the tractor. I found that the seat switch was disconnected. Mower would start with brake on and PTO works. I ran new wires to the seat switch and hooked up but now the mower dies when the PTO switch is turned on, whether or not I'm on the mower. I have the seat switch out and am testing it for continuity with the plunger out (no one on the seat). the switch is showing open. When I press the plunger, I get continuity on my meter. If I am looking at the schematic correctly this switch should be closed when the plunger is out. Am I looking at this wrong, or did the PO install the wrong seat switch?? Thanks!
