| Was mowing along quite nicely (2hours) but it started to get a bit dark, havent used the light since last fall but when I turned it on it came on then off.
I wasnt sure i pressed the switch all the way so I pressed it a little harder and it came on then flickered then the entire mower just died mid cutting. Battery totally drained wont turn over. Im sort of a novice on mowers but what should my next steps be. Im thinking unhook that light recharge the battery and see if it comes back to life. really hoping to avoid sending off to the dealer. |

| The scenario you described is not consistent with "Dead battery". What has most likely occurred is the headlight switch itself has shorted internally, OR.....there is a shorted out wire somewhere between the headlight switch and the headlights. When you first turned on the headlight, and the light went out immediately suggests the headlight switch is defective. But the likely reason the battery now seems to be "dead" is because the fuse for the machine's electrical system "blew" when you pushed the headlight switch harder (which likely restored the shorting condition). The first thing for you to do is to find the fuse and check it to see if it has failed. |

| Exactly what Mownie said...with one addition... Disconnect the headlight switch before replacing the fuse and restarting the mower. Otherwise, you are likely to blow the new fuse as soon as you turn the key. Good luck ! Marco |

| Thanks marco. Yes, either that, or at least be certain to move the headlight switch back to the off position before trying things with a new fuse. If the machine will run and operate after replacing the fuse, you can decide then whether you want to find and fix the shorting issue, or take the low road and never again use headlights (not recommended by me) :^) |

| Thanks so much guys at least i know where to begin, I have disabled the light and will stop off for a new fuse on my way home from work. I will post my results. |
