Snow blowers question (me again)

We have about 700' of driveway we used to keep cleared with a 30HP Case 610 and a 6' Farm King 3Pt Hitch blower. Case hydraulics died so we sold the lot to a HD mechanic and now have a neighbor come in with his heavy equipment (front end loader , 4wd tractor and blade or grader). The only problem is the blades tend to scrape the gravel (1/4 road crush) off to the side and/or strip any grass growing along the edges. Not his fault , just the way the driveway is.

Tendency is to wait until the driveway needs clearing (in other words the 2" snow falls accumulate then we get a 10" dump)

I know the walk behinds won't handle this , especially if it's been driven over , as they don't have the weight/traction to cut into the packed snow.

On the other hand , on a 26 HP garden tractor , would a 2 stage blower do the job?

Would it cut into the packed tracks as well as packed snow at the end of the driveway after the County grader has gone by and plugged the driveway?

Txs

RE: Snow blowers question (me again)

I've been doing doing EXACTLY what you describe for 15+ years with three different L&G tractors and attached single and two stage blowers.

As long as the tractor/blower design allows setting the blower height a couple inches above the gravel you will be pleased. You don't want the blower skid shows riding down on the gravel.

Depending on what tractor you choose you'll need at least wheel weights or suitcase weights and chains.

Take a look at the JD X3xx and X5xx series with their matching 44" two stage blower. Both have a simple and easy to use way to set the blower height. Not cheap but you buy once and you're done for a long time.

A Craftsman GT5000 with a 46" two-stage snow thrower will do the trick, they chuck snow around 60 feet!

It will definitely chuck snow but it will not do it indefinitely... had one for a day and returned it. It was the most underwhelming purchase I have ever made.
