11 HP B&S Ring Gear Problem

Hello, I have a 1979 Toro 1132 snowblower that has a Briggs & Stratton 252412 0134-01 engine. This is a 11 HP engine, the one with the Large Two-Piece Flo-Jet Carburetor. My problem is with the electric starter which is the kind with the steel starter gear and the nut on the end. On the starter it says "toro 20 7200". The previous owner replaced the ring gear on the flywheel with a aluminum ring gear. Of course the steel gear on the starter chewed up the teeth on the flywheel ring gear because that is supposed to be used with a plastic starter gear. I can't seem to find a relacement steel flywheel ring gear. Or, I can get a aluminum ring gear, but I'd need a plastic gear for the starter and I don't see that as a replacement. Has anyone run into this problem. Where can I find a steel ring gear, or a plastic replacement starter gear - if there even is such a thing. Any insight or help would be appreciated. Thanks

Maybe apples and oranges , but my 11 hp B+S IC vertical flathead has a nylon gear, that is sacrificial. I dont have the engine numbers in front of me though.

All you need to do is buy a 696537 Briggs ring gear kit and install from what my research shows. It will have the new aluminum ring gear w/ the proper nylon gear. That is the proper replacement. If you were to buy a whole Briggs flywheel assembly- it is meant to use w/ the nylon starter gear. Nice thrower BTW.

Tomplum, thanks for the response. Yes, that ring gear will fit the flywheel, but the nylon starter gear will not work on the starter. If I could figure out how to post a pic of the starter - I would!

I thought someone did post a picture and it is a 110V AC Starter, something that would have been helpful to know IF that is correct, no mind readers here. Perhaps that was in the other Forum you are posting to.

According to both Toro and Briggs IPL's- it is the proper gear for the starter. You could post a pic of the starter?

The 110V AC starter is apparently not a B&S part. OP has not answered if this is a 110V AC starter.
