ran great for so long then all of sudden gas started to run thru and out muffler a lot now mower backfires and wont run to power seems as muffler is lowder now also

now i see why people have work done seems to be easier than constantly trying to get something to run right

best stop that engine and closely chk the crankcase dipstick for the presence of raw fuel in the crankcase oil... running it with such for very long will ruin it. change oil and filter if so equipped, find source of fuel leak, repair. install inline fuel shutoff valve and use regularly.

right now, chances are you've got a pc of crud caught in your carb needle fuel valve - will need a good cleaning.
