Hit a stump

Hi

I was using my new Sears 2500 rear engine riding mower and hit a stump. Now I have a bent deck, blade and pulley. I'm not sure if the shaft is bent or not and until I get the pulley off I won't really know if it is or not.

My problem is that I cant seem to get the pulley off. Any ideas as to how to prevent the shaft from turning while I try to loosen the retaining nut?

I also bought a replacement blade that was supposed to be a direct replacement , however, the shaft has a 6 point star and the blade was a 5 point star. The damaged blade was a two level mulching blade and I cant seem to find a replacement that matches.

I know that this is an MTD machine and Im looking for a repair/parts shop in the Cornwall, NY area to get the parts.

Thanks for your help.

George
