Cub Cadet alternate hydro fluid

Long time no post.

I just changed the filter and fluid on my Cub 2166 h'stat. I used the syn/blend recommended by Cub, along with a Cub filter .. nearly 70.00. Yikes!

Is there a good alternate fluid? Price of 8.50 a quart for the fluid is a bit steep.

I am set for a spell, but I thought it might be good info for someone else to have.

Super Tech synthetic from Wally, around $5.00/qt. You can get the hydro filter in Wix from Napa or Car Quest.

I wouldnt just take the suggestion given as a fact...this topic has been around for a while now, and there are some close but not exact alternatives....the filters are a close match
