Wheel Horse 310-8 PTO stops engine

Hello All,

Engaging the deck via PTO handle stops the engine. Safety switch? What's so unsafe? Do you have any mentions before I begin removing parts?

Hi there rcbe, That has been disconnected for a few years now. PTO had worked last year. Maybe there is a bare wire hitting ground on seat switch wire feed? Will check that. Any other ideas?

the other safety switch usually tied into that function is the clutch// brake switch.

one other thing - if that engine is a twin cylinder, may only be hitting on one cylinder and can't handle the heavy load of a deck start-up....

Thanks rcbe for the additional info. I will reserve this task for winter. Single cylinder Kohler engine. When it shuts down, it is evident there is a kill in the ignition.

There is also a safety switch for the PTO lever, on/under the lever. There is a tab that slides over the switch on the tail of the handle.
