Briggs & Stratton Engines

I had a bad Briggs & Stratton 1 cylinder engine
I interchanged a 14.5 HP with a 17.5 HP

They were bolt for bolt the same engine externally

Does anybody know the HP range that are the same externally?

How about the 2 cylinder engine - is there a HP range for them

Thanks

"They were bolt for bolt the same engine externally"

Well that may be a little of an exaggeration. True, mounting bolt holes are the same, 12 hp thru 18.5 hp for singles with some later versions of 9.5 even being the same pattern. The 17.5 hp will have a larger cylinder, cylinder bore than the 14.5 hp.
