need 18.5 hp Briggs and Stratton engine for a LT1018 cub cadet

I have a LT1018 Cub Cadet lawn tractor it has a Briggs and Stratton 18.5 hp engine ELS500. The connecting rod broke.Is it possible to get another used engine or another connecting rod,or short block? Any solution?

Give us the model and type number stamped into the valve cover.

According to the link below, it has a Briggs 31Q777-0305.

You can download an IPL from Briggs for the various part#'s.
Finding a replacement engine should also be simple.
As long as the PTO dimensions match, the only other thing is that you MIGHT have to swap the flywheel & stator from your old engine.

if you live anywhere near to Western Pennsylvania/ Pittsburgh area, i have an engine for sale. It runs well, but the tranny is broken. The tranny is a hydro that grinds well. I'm cleaning out for winter, and to keep the lady of the house happy! Its an 18.5 B&S.
