Starter problem:

A Craftsman snow thrower, electric start, uses house current for starter. Has a problem i have never seen!

The steel mounting plate-spot welded to the starter body-fell completely off! (well, the starter body fell off the mounting plate!( Same thing, only different.)

Not the machine in another message. This one gets TLC!

It had another problem, in that the lower mounting bolts were different than the 2 upper ones, allowing the starter to lose mesh with the flywheel ring gear. I fixed that problem last winter. So, i installed all four bolts that were the correct ones. Engine had been starting well. took it back to owner. Now, this problem erupts.

Upon inspection, it appears that the spot welds were not very good, allowing the starter motor to eventually fall off the mounting plate. Anybody ever have that problem? RJ
