x304 k46 to k66 upgrade

Posted by sandvikcity (My Page) on

I read about converting x300 to k66 but i understand the x304 is a completely different beast between the transaxle and wheel. Anyone know if this is even possible? I love the size of the x304 and would not want a larger machine just a larger transaxle. The k46 it has makes me nervous as I push snow around with a blade. I have 50 hours on it and its already getting louder and reverse is slowing down on me. Also hear a faint grinding noise as i go forward. That could be the u joints need grease too. havnt checked yet.

I think it would be more work than it's worth. Better off buying an old beater cub cadet garden tractor for snow removal if you're concerned about killing the Deere.

U-joints? It's belt driven.

U-joints that connect the transaxel to the rear wheels for 4 wheel steering.

I have seen the kits offered somewhere, maybe ebay.
You might find it searching there.

Firstly, I always thought the hydro on a 304 was built specially to JD spec? Is this not so? It certainly LOOKS very different from a normal K.46. Wouldn't you really only need a K.66 in a machine that weighs more than 350kg?

The K.66 is such a different beast that I'd have some doubts about the practicality of this project. Is there a version that doesn't have axle support extensions, so you could fit the jointed axles? Also, the casing of the K.66 is a lot wider.
