winter prep...

1. swap F&R turf tires for HDAPs
2. install rear wheel weights and suitcase weights
3. remove mowing deck... clean and lube
4. install snow blower

not to many leaves on my lot. just in a corner. reality is i'll probably still run the tractor at least once. but had to take advantage of the warm weather. should have put the holiday lights up too!

Did winterize all the two cycle's (two tillers, one leaf blower) except for the weedeater which is still in use.

I'd empty the gas tank and run the engine dry. Even with Stabil or equivalent am suspicious of letting mystery fuel sit in carb over winter, unless your engine is of a vintage that it can be serviced. Even so ....

I'd really love to pull the mower and put on the dozer blade, weights, chains and get the driveway (gravel) dressed up before winter.

ALSO::: If you store yer machines inside a shed, or old frame garage, or any place where the critters kin get in, Go buy a box of stinky clothes dryer softener sheets, and stuff a couple in around and near the engine area. WHY!? The mice and other 4 legged critters love to make their nests in under the flywheel covers on an engine. They make their terlets down in the cylinder fins, and stuff nesting materials in that area, to make their winter naps long and comfy! When you go to start the engine in the Spring, if you didn't have those sheets in it, the mice, or whatever, will most likely have eaten the insulation off the spark plug wire, and it won't start or run.
I opened one engine up, to find Mama Mouse and 4 off-spring nesting all comfy, around the spark plug wire area, and the plug wire as bare as a new-born's Butt!
