Well you could prime the carb with a couple teaspoons worth of gas and see if it fires or check for spark.

If your "... JD X320 battery died within one week of non use". then the battery is marginal and charging won't bring it back. Have the battery load tested.

When you know you have a good battery, listen for the" click" of the fuel shut-off solenoid in the carb at the moment you turn on the key.

No " click", no fuel to the carb.

Not to get too technical, but w/ no click there's fuel in the carb bowl but no fuel fed to the main jet.
