| It's a good way to find and trade, info and experiences. And you often get a different "slant" of a situation when it is described through the eyes of someone else. While (my opinion) this forum is about enabling the average homeowner to be more confident about affecting DIY repairs to the OPE and tractors in their circle of interest through sharing of information, it also goes far beyond just that. Due to a fairly broad slice of the "tech community" being represented by the membership, professional OPE repair folks get some info or advice that probably wasn't going to walk through the door of their shop. Because the exchange of info posted can become "pretty technical" at times, that helps the "non professional novice" decide whether they want to try to DIY the services or repairs...........or whether they need to "farm it out" to a professional. That too, is beneficial. Best a person decide ahead of time whether they feel confident/competent enough to tackle the job!! It it's about saving any money that can be saved, the most expensive modus operandi is to tear something apart, and then present the job to a pro shop as "parts in a basket". While I personally do not participate in the threads described generically as "Which tractor/mower/brand should I buy?", I find the responses from other members to be very straight forward and informative. That has probably guided a lot of people to make a more rational decision in selecting a machine for their needs. Should be much less "buyer's remorse" as a result. |

| I agree. To me this is like going to tech school, only funner! Any problems you have just search it and you will most likely find an answer...most likely several answers. And every once in a while a total, absolutely no ground given, an't gonna change my mind, give no quarter, I'm right and that's the way it's gonna stay till hell freezes completely over discussion comes along. Then it gets really fun! But for the price of admission there are some top gun dudes here that really help those of us that are mechanically deprived. |
