Gas tank for Briggs

We are having a problem with our gas tank on our Bolens garden tractor.. the neck of the tank that the cap screws to is broken off. This causes a problem of dirt getting in the tank and gas sloshing out. We need to either repair this or get a replacement tank. I have not found a tank. The suppliers i found price from 60.00 to 112.00 dollars. Does any one have a suggestion how to fix or it can buy a good used tank? any help would be appreciated.
8 Horse horizontal shaft.
model 190402
part no 290816 4 quart. Thanks

Is it possible for a local radiator shop to repair it in budget?

I have adapted several types of plastic fuel tanks, to other than the machines they were designed for. And, i have also installed tin tanks, too. I made brackets to support a tin, 2 gallon fuel tank, to a tractor that originally had a low mounted fuel tank, in which i had installed an engine with no fuel pump. I can mow my whole yard twice before putting in more fuel. Just takes a bit of ingenuity and plotting, to do the trick!

Go to your neighborhood lawnmower shop - if they are like mine is, they will have some junker mowers that customers didn't want to repair and didn't want to come and get. He might have a tank on one that he'll sell cheap. If you tell him you'll take it off he might let you have it for free. Just depends on how much he likes you.
