Engine shuts down

Posted by pat2350 (My Page) on

I have a John Deere L110 riding mower
With engine running when I apply the deck engagement lever the engine shuts down. With the same lever on I can move the belt, turning the blades by hand easily. (nothing seized) I think something is electrically killing the engine.

Anybody have a thought or a schematic

Thanks
Pat Brennan

Possibly a defective, or loose, seat switch.
The deck engagement safety interlock switch on this Deere makes the final decision of whether it is safe to permit the blades to become powered.
With a defective, or loose seat switch, the logic is that the seat is unoccupied and therefore the engine must be shut off.

Thanks mownie

You were right on - the switch was falling off
It was an easy fix (with your help)
