Craftsman tractors model nos.

OK guys anybody out there know where to find out what year a tractor was manufactured by the model or serial number? I know somebody mentioned Craftsman went through different colors on their tractors (Gray,Red etc.) but I am sure there is some parts of the numbers that designate the year of manufacture, correct?
Mine is a 917 252610 and it is Gray in color. Any idea what year? |

| Lawnmowers have the date ending with M, don't know about tractors. The engine code might be a better way. |
