Snapper RER transmission issues...
All,
Long time since I posted here or the lawnmower forum but am in need of assistance. Just acquired another Snapper RER, 28084S. I wanted a grass catcher for my older Comet to collect leaves this fall and well, the grass catcher came with an attachment! That is, a pretty decent RER, repowered with a 12 HP B&S and new battery. It's a well used machine but the engine is new and everything works pretty well with the exception of the gear selector. It's hard to operate, will go into 1st okay but requires muscle to get into higher gears. Once I have overcome getting into second, it shifts pretty easily into 3-5. Oh, and when I put it into "park", it still rolls easily. That should be an indicator that something is bad. And another thing, even when I'm in 5th gear, it's not as fast as my Comet. The rubber on the driven disc is fine. Any ideas? I've lubed the zerk fitting on the shift lever but that doesn't seem to make much of a difference.
Thanks,
