| Do the pistons have to be in a certain position, or at top dead center, or is it irrelevant? My match marks line up at the bottom dead center. |

| You must match up the marks on the crankshaft and cam shaft gears, inside the lower part (sump) of the engine. Do this if you have had the engine apart. If the cam gear doesn't want to stay in mesh, use a masking tape "loop" to hold it in mesh while you put the block and sump back together. The pistons will not both be in the same relative position, nor will the valves. Might i suggest you seek professional help, to save a lot of repeat work. |
