Honda repower on Snapper RER

I've heard from 3 or 4 people who have done the change-over and are happy with the results. Now there's another reason to do it.I was browsing e-bay and saw that there were several Honda GXV390 13HP engines selling for about $300 including shipping. This is really a steal as the engines list price is $750. A 12&1/2 hp Briggs will cost almost $600, plus if you have an earlier model Briggs the muffler will cost $50 for the new model.Search some of my earlier posts for details of the swap

Aww, shucks, i just pulled a B&S out of an old tractor that had a bad tranny, and installed it in my Snapper RER! Works great. Might be 12 h.p. or so. It sez something on the engine, but i can't see it from here. I guess, if ya want to have a great story to tell, about how ya paid a pile of cash for a HONDA ENGINE, do it! I prefer to stick with the good old tried and true, American made stuff!

I like the Honda.
The Honda rider is a nice machine.
I never thought of repowering my pusher Snapper. Mine has that 10 Tecumseh

I just wished someone built a quiet muffler

Actually my Honda is one made in the USA,and to each his own, I have a good friend who will not touch anything but a B&S and he does mower work as a second job. And, quiet is one of the big pluses of the Honda swap.
