I presume your intent is to keep the deck somewhat off the floor for air circulation while at the same time relieving the lift lock mechanism of duty?
Nothing wrong with any of that.

Consider blocking the tractor to keep the tires off the floor for winter storage.

I agree that the mower deck should never be left suspended while in storage anytime of the year. Having it on blocks is probably a good idea, but depends on where you live. We live in eastern Carolina, where the winters are quite short and it will probably be a little more that three month between the leaves and the early spring chores. During that time the tractor will be moved from the shed to the garage for servicing, and pushed around the shed to get at things. I will not block the mower deck as on my tractor when the deck is lowered it is hanging from fixed attachment point on the tractor, no springs involved.

If you live in the far north with much longer winters or have a much larger storage facility that may be a different story.

As for putting the tractor on block I question the necessity for this, assuming that the tractor is dry and inside nor sitting in pools of grease or water. Earlier tires were not manufactured as ours to day and left on the floor could rot.

There is one thing that has not been mentioned. When it is being stored where it may be weeks when it is not visited, I always lift the hood to make that area of the tractor less attractive for nesting.
