Hmmm, a Vangard. Some claim to have a fix w/o pulling the head that you could try, but other than that just replace the head. Push rods should be checked also.

The push rods are bent i'm sure thats a result of loose valve guide bushings. I'm open to a fix without replacing head. Any suggestions?

Well I am a way late, computer has been in the shop. None replaceable valve guides pertain to B & S Intek engines, Vanguard Twins of that age were made in Japan and different Service Manual pertains. I do not know about reliability of replacement guides in Vanguard engines. I can furnish you with a Service Manual IF you like. Address below, put in proper format and remind me, engine model and what you want.

I don't claim to have a fix for slipped valve guides, I DO have a fix.
