Murray lawn tractor with Tecumseh engine

Mower starts, make loud bang sound in engine, then will not turn over nor start. No oil is being lost either on engine nor ground. Temperature in the 50s. Has oil and gas. Any answers to what I should look for. Thanks to all

It could be external, but it doesn't sound promising. If they toss a rod, many times the block behind the starter is broken. Otherwise look for loose flywheel magnets, a starter that may have stayed engaged and locked. Do some digging and maybe things will be alright.
