Tension Spring on Parking Brake Linkage on JD 170

Have JD 170, man. trans., w/14 hp Kawi. Today, I had to replace the vent hose on top of gas tank. Old hose was cracked and leaking fuel. I removed the fenders/seat assembly to access the top of the tank. I noticed in the process that a spring (about 3-1/2") had fallen off (?) the parking brake linkage. Does anyone know where I should re-connect this spring? It seems that there should be backward tension on the spring in order for it to stay in the "unlocked" position in the cover plate. I checked with a local dealer and they don't know except to say that there is a spring in that area. Anyone know how this spring is connected or should I just try the hit or miss approach? The linkage is "L-shaped" below the brake/cover plate. I was thinking of just connecting the spring to the base of the "L" and hooking it to a logical spot aft (rear) of that. Make sense?

Thanks,

Jim

RE: Tension Spring on Parking Brake Linkage on JD 170

Issue resolved. No response necessary. Looked at the parking brake linkage on a JD 160 at local dealer and saw how spring is attached.
